MacDermid was founded in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1922 by a Scottish immigrant named Archie J. Philips Design has its headquarters in Eindhoven and is a separate field of business inside Philips. An interdisciplinary team of about 450 experts is working on functionality, usability, ergonomics and aesthetic aspects. The Philips design site in Amsterdam is contributing to Syntex as member of the business interest group.

Visual Recognition is a company that has been established to commercially exploit promising research from the ISLA Laboratory at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. Visual Recognition can also provide scientific consulting on a host of topics in the field of object recognition and general computer vision with an emphasis on colour.

RetailBranding is an Austrian consulting company that helps the retail industry to design products and shops. They perform operational research that focuses on consumer behavior and commercial trends. Their efforts are based on developmental and basic groundwork that has lead to the concepts of Storebranding, Mallbranding, the Less-Is-More Philosophy, and in particular, Neural Marketing.
